We lost a rugged affair in Memphis on Friday. We followed it up with a so-so performance against the Wolves. The Grizz, on the other hand, lost by 21 the next night to the woeful Mavericks and then dropped a home game to the Chris Paul-less Clippers by 16. Oh wait, no, that’s by 26. Seriously? What the hell is up with that team?
I watched the Spurs-Grizzlies game on Friday off the DVR. We got dinner done late and sat down to watch a little before 9:00. I thought it was a great game to watch. Frustrating as hell as a Spurs’ fan with us turning the ball over and acting like the JV team for stretches. But, what a wild back and forth affair of rugged playoff-style basketball.
When Tony hit his 3-ptr to send it to overtime we jumped out of our seats and completely lost it. Then, within two seconds, the DVR recording of the game ended. ARGHHHH!!!!!!!
1. Sustenance & Song: Spaghetti & Meatballs with homemade pasta & Helplessly Hoping
The homemade pasta was a huge hit with the kids. They had a hard time getting the techniques correct, but pasta is a very forgiving substance and things ended up good for everybody. I highly recommend it as a family activity.
Helplessly Hoping by CSN. I may have done this song already this year. I don’t care. I just love it and I just got it on my phone. I’m playing it to death.
2. Key Match Up: Marc Gasol vs Tim Duncan
Gasol did a fantastic job on Duncan Friday. If Gasol can play Tim to a draw, much less out play him, then the Grizzlies have a HUGE advantage.
Tonight would be a great time for Tim to pull out of his funk.
3. Keeping An Eye On: Rudy Gay
Rudy was the difference in the game Friday. He shot 50% from the field and led his team with 23 points. He usually struggles against us with his shooting, but Friday he didn’t. I’d really like to see Kawhi rebound tonight with a lock sort of evening on Gay.
4. Bold Prediction: Zero Clue
We are not a good match up with the Grizzlies. We are missing Manu. Tim is playing poorly. Add it all up and we should get beat. However, I have a sneaking feeling this will be one of those step up games by a few role players. I’m going with Kawhi to have a 20 and 10 and Gary Neal to have 25 in a Spurs win.
